Many, especially those who live far from a Community of Assumption Sisters, have long desired to drink from ‘the source’ and be inspired to live the spirituality of our Mother Foundress, St. Marie Eugenie of Jesus…
Our spirituality is our most precious possession: Jesus Christ, Lord of History, living in us and in his Church, the extension of his Reign in us and in the world, a deep spirit of prayer, liberty of spirit, a love of community and friendship, a style of education and apostolate that flows from the contemplative life. (MMEugenie, 1878)
Contemplation and action founded on a spiritual life strengthens communion and solidarity among Friends of the Assumption.
To celebrate the Feastday of St. Marie Eugenie on March 10, we launch the website

S AINT MARIE EUGENIE OF JESUS
Foundress of the Religious of the Assumption. St. Marie Eugenie ‘dared to be holy’ in her own unique way. Her CREDO articulated her core beliefs and she invites us ‘to be strong and to have a real impact even in our little sphere..”(MME: 19 July, 1842)
Credo of St. Marie Eugenie of Jesus
I believe that our earth is a place of glory for God. I believe that the destiny of the world is the Reign of Jesus Christ. I believe that each of us has a mission on earth. I believe that the aim of our religion is not just our own eternal happiness but To let God use us to make the Gospel known and loved. I believe that each one enters into God’s plan by prayer, by action and by the cross And that to refuse his call is to refuse our own happiness. I believe the aim of Christian education is to make Jesus Christ known As the liberator and ruler of the world.. (Undated letter to Fr. Lacordaire, Origines I) | Reflection Questions : 1.
